Impressive Moorcroft Flambe jardinere 15.5ins diameter c.1915

This is a unique piece of American Civil War history. It is a carved "Scrimshaw" style hardwood baton or truncheon created by a sailor aboard the steam packet R.M.S. Trent illustrating what became known as the "Trent Affair" when on November 8th,1861 the U.S.S.San Jacinto fired cannon shot over their bows and caused an International incident which nearly precipitated a war between England and America.
